Have you played Villa Terrace weddings?

Yes. Dream City Strings has played 9 weddings at the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee.

Short answer

Yes. We've played 9 weddings at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum: 3 in 2019, 1 in 2021, 2 in 2022, 2 in 2023 and 1 in 2024. Choose a quartet (two violins, viola and cello), a trio or a duo for your ceremony and cocktail hour. Call 414-253-2504.

Planning your Villa Terrace ceremony music

  1. Prelude. Pick about 10 songs. That fills roughly 30 minutes while guests arrive and find their seats.
  2. Processionals. Keep song changes to a few. Players turn pages between songs, so every change adds a small gap. Repeating one song for a long line of attendants is fine.
  3. Vows. We stop playing after the bride's entrance so everyone can hear the officiant.
  4. Recessional and postlude. One song to walk out, then about 3 more as guests move on to cocktail hour.

Want strings for cocktail hour as well? Plan on about 20 songs an hour. How many songs a ceremony needs.

If any part of your day is outside

  • Shade. Our contract requires shade for the players: a tent or a big leafy tree.
  • Rain. Anything more than a drizzle and the instruments go back in their cases, so keep a covered backup in mind.
  • Temperature. Strings play best between about 55 and 92 degrees.
