Can we get a Bridgerton-style string quartet in Denver?

Yes. Pop songs arranged for strings, played next to the classical pieces you'd expect in a ballroom, is exactly what a string quartet does.

Short answer

Yes. Dream City Strings now books Denver and Colorado with Colorado-based players, as a quartet (two violins, viola and cello), a trio or a duo. The library pairs pop songs arranged for strings, like Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams, Robyn's Dancing On My Own and Coldplay's Viva La Vida, with classical favorites like Vivaldi's Spring and Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. One Wisconsin couple called it a “fabulous Bridgerton sound.”

What a Bridgerton-style set sounds like

The sound comes from the instruments: two violins, a viola and a cello, played acoustic and seated, with no backing track. Mix pop and classical however you like. All of these are already on the song list:

  • Pop arranged for strings: Wildest Dreams, Love Story, Lover and Enchanted (Taylor Swift), Dancing On My Own (Robyn), Memories (Maroon 5), Viva La Vida, Yellow and Paradise (Coldplay), Young and Beautiful (Lana Del Rey), Halo (Beyoncé), Poker Face (Lady Gaga) and Perfect (Ed Sheeran).
  • Classical favorites: Vivaldi's Spring and Winter, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Pachelbel's Canon in D, Bach's Air from Suite in D, Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and La Rejouissance, Debussy's Clair de Lune and Massenet's Meditation from Thaïs.

Want a song that isn't listed? Add it in your BookLive client portal. We check that it works on strings, then find or arrange the sheet music; a new song is usually $25 to $50, depending on how complicated it is. Our 2024 ceremony at Villa Parker in Parker, Colorado, included a custom arrangement of a pop song. Picks are due about two weeks before the event, or tell us the mood and we'll choose for you.

Weddings, galas and corporate events

  • Weddings. About 30 minutes of prelude (around 10 songs) as guests arrive, your processionals, quiet for the vows, then the recessional. For cocktail hour, plan on about 20 songs an hour. Ceremony music with a quartet.
  • Galas and corporate events. We've played galas, fundraisers, corporate events and holiday parties, and we can split the group between rooms. At one gala, one violinist played in the lobby while three played in the main room. Corporate events and galas.
  • Pick the size. A full quartet gives the fullest sound; a trio or duo fits a smaller room. Quartet, trio or duo?

Planning it in Denver

  • Sound. A quartet plays acoustic. In a big ballroom or outdoors, we can borrow your DJ's microphone or add a sound engineer. Does a string quartet need a microphone?
  • Outdoors. Shade is required, and anything more than a drizzle sends the instruments back into their cases. We play best between about 55 and 92 degrees. Outdoor weather guidelines.
  • Setup. The players sit, so the venue provides a chair for each player in each spot. They arrive about 30 minutes before the music starts, in suits and ties or black dresses.
  • Booking. A 50% deposit holds your date, and the balance is due a week before. Both are paid in your BookLive client portal, and paying by bank transfer (ACH) keeps the fee low.
